The one-hour INTRO class is designed for those who are new to SŌTERIC and evidence based-contemplative training, but many clients will keep coming back for its balanced combination of EASE and FOCUS techniques. All are welcome!


While these skills are now scientifically studied and measured separately, traditionally they have been taught and trained in together. In this they have cooperatively served as the foundation of contemplative practice for millennia.


Structured like all of our CORE classes, INTRO begins with 10 minutes of SŌMATICS. Drawn from modern postural yoga and traditional Tibetan techniques known as lu-jong or "body training", this sequence is inspired by their original intent as preparation for formal contemplation. SŌMATICS is no sweat! It features an optimal sequence of light stretching and core strengthening postures specifically designed to make sitting more comfortable and poised.


After the SŌMATICS sequence, there is 20 minutes of guided instruction in EASE relaxation techniques, followed by 20 minutes of FOCUS training to hone attention. Then we conclude with 10 minutes for discussion and Q&A.
