All CORE classes begin with 10 minutes of SŌMATICS. Drawn from modern postural yoga and traditional Tibetan techniques known as lu-jong or "body training", this is an optimal sequence of light stretching, postural awareness exercises, and intention setting specifically designed to help us settle into contemplative practice and make sitting more comfortable and poised. In fact, this was the original purpose of postural yoga in ancient India: it was not a distinct tradition from contemplation but instead served as preparation for it.
We don't have to pretzel our legs or strain our bodies to focus. Meditation should feel good!
