Using the theory of digital minimalism, this unique 8-week course demonstrates that we can break out of the attention economy and reclaim our relationship to technology. 


Features:

  • Two 60-minute classes per week (in-person or online)
  • Contemplative exercises and small-group discussions
  • Brief daily assignments to clarify the cost/benefit of tech
  • Highly interactive and community-based

Weeks 1–2: assess your tech use and its impacts; target specific behaviors; collaborative design of mitigation strategies.

Weeks 3–6: digital detox in which all mitigation strategies are deployed and maintained; contemplation and journaling to document behavioral and psychological shifts.

Weeks 7–8: individual and group processing of the detox; reintegration of select functionalities through careful assessment.

TRANSCENDENCE

IN THE WORLD'S RELIGIONS

This course introduces the modern study of religion and comparatively surveys over a dozen religious traditions from around the globe that span the course of human history.


We will explore diverse religious perspectives with an open curiosity, overcome the distance of the foreign and the exotic, contextualize their histories and interrelationships, and engage their definitions of both transcendence and the Transcendent.
